Peplum and Cargo Skinnies

Peplum has quickly become one of my new favorite trends. I mean, why wouldn’t it? Super feminine in cut, peplum is basically just a top with a big ruffle on it. And I think y’all know how I feel about ruffles.

But I won’t sugarcoat it. My peplum love affair hasn’t exactly been easy. In fact, I’ve probably tried on dozens of tops and only have three in my closet. It seems that cuts of peplum vary greatly, and not all of them are very flattering.

Some of them stick straight out at the waist, making me feel like a walking side table, and others are so short I’d be constantly worried about showing skin; however, when they fit properly, they create such a lovely shape. (Plus, they’re great for hiding a food baby. I’d call that a win.)

    You look amazing (as always) and I am a fellow peplum addict! It’s just so flattering on everyone. While I agree that finding one with the perfect fit can be a little challenging, it is SO worth all the searching when you find one that fits great. I have gotten all 3 of mine from ModCloth and love em all.

    I have a confession to make…I’ve never tried on a peplum top of dress for that matter. I love the look, like you said it’s so feminine and pretty but I just don’t know how it would look on me. I’ve been eyeing up a pretty peplum Alice & Olivia dress on Shopbop but I’m still not sure lol. You look so lovely in your top and I love your bracelets! Have a great weekend Lauren!

    I agree about the cuts of peplum – I love the look when I find a flattering top, but some of them look awful on me! You look amazing (and I LOVE that top)!!! Love that necklace too, so much!

    I have to agree – not all peplum tops are so flattering. I tried one on at Target last week that was super short and flared out really far. I was like, “who wears this stuff?” hhaha. But I love the top you have on, it looks amazing on you. And I love your nail polish, too! 🙂
