I am really excited about today’s outfit. But it’s certainly not for the reasons you’re likely thinking. It’s clearly not my most inventive look to date. In fact, it’s the opposite, my go-to work uniform when I’m in a rush or feeling uninspired. A button down with a pencil skirt and skinny belt always works for me.But the real reason I’m excited about today’s look is that I finally got to break out my first flannel plaid top of the season. I bought this last month when I went on my retail therapy outing to J.Crew Factory, but since then it’s been sitting lonesomely in my shopping bag. Finally, with the humidity almost gone and a crispness to the air, it was time to break it out.
I can’t wait to wear it again! What are you most looking forward to wearing this Fall?
Top: J.Crew Factory Button-Down Flannelย (currently on sale!), Skirt: J.Crew, Shoes: Tory Burch (similar), Belt: H&M (similar), Necklace: Stella & Dot Somervell, Earrings: Stella & Dot Nancy Studs, Bracelets: J.Crew (similar), Stella & Dot Renegade
Great outfit! I love how you dressed up the plaid top for work. My plaid button-downs have been calling my name from the closet, I can’t to break them out soon!
Love the outfit!! I can’t wait to break out the sweaters!!
This is the perfect work outfitsโyou look so adorable! I’m loving the accents of silver, tooโI’m usually a gold girl, and I forget how much I like that OTHER metallic!
Great outfit and I totally relate to purchasing something and having it teasing you by having it just hang there waiting in the closet. My item that is doing that right now is a grey leather jacket…I love pairing leather jackets with dresses and booties, my favorite look for fall.
I would be super excited to wear Plaid too. I am eyeing several Plaid Tops in stores now. Love how you styled your Pencil Skirt. Your Necklace & Bracelet are simply Gorgeous. I also wore a Pencil Skirt today (come check it out). Also, thanks for linking up with Agnes and I (I was co-hosting). I’d love for you to check out my look today and to please support my blog by following. As you know I am a regular reader of your blog & love your style, Lauren.
Thanks so much, Ada. =)
Cute way to wear plaid in the workplace! I’m still in denial about fall coming but buying new clothes helps, haha. ๐

I love plaid button downs. I don’t know why I didn’t as a teenager. I suppose I thought they were too old-ladyish right along with loafers. I now own at least 3 pairs of loafers and 5 button downs.
plaid flannel is indeed a sure sign of fall and cooler temps! love those silver flats of yours as well!
You have totally gotten me on board with J Crew pencil skirts! They were my go to other than dresses for the summer. I am excited to see how you are styling them for the fall/winter because I don’t want to stop wearing them for the season and go back to boring old pants!
I’m so excited to break out my plaid! I can’t believe I haven’t done it yet!

Totally loving your flannel shirt, it is so cute!
I love this! I am a nurse so I don’t get to dress up to work at all. This makes me wish I could!
Having a go to look that always works is very important. I think a button down with a pencil skirt looks great on you. Are your Tory Burch flats comfy? I need a couple new pairs of flats that are comfortable for my long days running around for work.
