I’ve talked about my work uniform before. You know, the classic, fail-proof combination of pencil skirt, button down and cardigan? Well it’s still the old standby for when I’m feeling uninspired, but I got to thinking about how I could revamp the look without losing it’s ease. And what I came up with was a simple change, but one that made a pretty big impact on the look.By swapping my standard cardigan for a long style, I completely changed the proportions of the look. In fact, it made it a little more youthful and modern. I was so surprised at how one small change altered my perspective. It felt fresh and new.Do you ever play with proportion or cut to mix up a tired look?

I have been really drawn to longer cardigans lately, especially with skirts/dresses. I think you nailed it here. And your pop of color from the bright shoe makes a statement too!
That is so stylish! Love the yellow shoes too!
Love this! I have a few longer jackets and cardigans and have noticed the dramatic difference when I wear them. I’m loving all of these color together, especially the pop with your shoes!
I like how you used tha chambray top – and the yellow heels are such a great accessory!
I love how you added your yellow heels as a pop of color. They are so fun!
I love this classic prep look with the fun pop of yellow! Too cute! Thanks for sharing your look with Three-fer Thursday!
I love it with the chambray shirt too. I wonder if I could get away with that where I work. They’re kind of strict about denim but maybe I can slide under the radar with just the denim look…
The yellow pumps are such a fun pop of color! I think the longer length is a nice change!
The Tiny Heart
I really don’t own many cardigans! for some reason I’m under the impression they look very strange on me lol. This version is so classic and elegant!
You look so classy and professional in this pencil skirt. I love the color too. The cardigan is perfect with this outfit!
OMG love the pop of yellow from the shoes!!!!
You are so gorgeous! I love your hair in these photos, and I love the long cardigan and color combo!
I can’t tell you how much I love the pop of yellow with this outfit! It just takes it to a whole new level. SO cute!
that sweater is AMAZING, and it goes so well with this whole outfit! it’s interesting how just a proportion change can alter the whole feel of a look- that would definitely expand your closet though 😉

I never would have thought that such a simple change like that would make such a difference! Love the cardi!
I totally agree, Cardigan + Pencil Skirt + Button Down and Pumps is my go-to for everyday fashion. Sometimes I think it’s harder to do Casual Fridays!

My God , you area really a style icon . You are so gorgeous that i have become a great fan of yours . You are looking stunning in this dress.
I have a bunch of cardigans and I love having something to wear instead of a blazer on a day when I want to feel just a bit cozier. I dont’ usually wear longer ones with pencil skirts, but it looks great and i will have to try it!
LOVE the pop of yellow those shoes bring to the outfit!
Your yellow shoes made your plum skirt pop. Love it. Your cardi looks great with the look. I’d have thought the length wouldn’t work, but it does.
Loving the color combo. Those yellow pumps rock!
Love your skirt – I’m so into burgundy this fall! Thank you for linking up to What I’m Loving Fridays!
